Tumblr is blocked in my country.
Hi everyone! I just wanna tell a bit of my story.
First of all, I know I don’t post here as often as I used to. For the past years, I have been off reblogging on Tumblr. However, it’s not that I wasn’t using it anymore. I was still using Tumblr to look for inspiring pictures, stories, and new information mainly about feminism because I am so keen about it.
Unfortunately, approx two months ago Tumblr was announced being blocked in my country (I prefer not to mention where since I don’t wanna make a fuss and I truly respect their decision). However, to be very honest I was so devastated. I love looking at my dashboard as in here, I can see the beauty in diversity. I know I can use VPN but it can be expensive if you don’t earn that much money.
Anyway, my point is I thought freedom of speech is guaranteed but I was wrong. And you know what? One of the reasons Tumblr is being blocked because of the nsfw content that it provides its users. Yes. Isn’t it crazy? I mean, that’s just not cool to blocked the whole Tumblr as I believe some of the people don’t even search for nsfw content. Some of them look for lives in here. Some looks for inspiration and meaning. They search for a community they belong to, and it’s not always negative or nsfw. And if it’s, I believe these people are responsible enough if that makes sense.
I may be wrong about this but it has been the thing that bugged my mind lately. Now as I am staying abroad visiting my relatives, I can open Tumblr easily. But again, I’m still devastated about it.
Thank you for listening my long complaint. I hope you all well!
